Insurance = Scam. Monitoring = Scam. Fraud Alert=Useless. Petitioning for help from Credit Reporting Companies = fruitless.

If you want to protect your identity, check to see if your state has a Credit Freeze law. It's easy and cheap (one-time fee of $5 to $10 usually, not a subscription). A credit freeze blocks the credit reporting company from releasing your credit report without your express permission, PER INSTANCE. That means that unless you say "Yes, Best Buy in Houston Texas can access my account one time", there's no gettin' it.

I've pointed you to an artcile I wrote about this since it ticks me off that ID theft can be prevented so easily, but there's so little press about it.

Identity theft can be worth the price. It's just like any other insurance really though. This service http://www.getbrokequick.com/identity-theft-protection.php does some pretty basic stuff for you for 10 bucks a month, but if your identity is ever stolen they will spend up to a million bucks to restore your good name (dealing with your CC, bank, lawyers etc)

I have been a victim of ID theft. If this is the case, you need help! Most ID Theft protection plans only cover credit theft (the easiest) when there are actually 3 more types social security, criminal, and medical. Here is a link to the ID theft protection plan I use, it covers all 4 types and is the best I know of: http://BestIDTheftProtection.info
I hope this helps and do not delay in getting it fixed, there are time limits that may keep somethings from being reversed if you wait too long to report it.
